Signs of Spring Cocktail
“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot & the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light & winter in the shade." - Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
This cocktail is a perfect March day in a glass - warming 50s temperatures, little pops of fresh herby greens, with a little bit of winter bite at the finish. Here’s what you need to enjoy your own “signs of spring” cocktail:
2 thin slices of cucumber
5 basil leaves (smack the basil leaves between your palms before adding to the drink to unleash their fragrant oils)
2 oz good vodka
Juice of one lemon
Add 4 basil leaves 1 slice of cucumbers, and vodka to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a martini or coupe glass. Add in juice of one lemon, and garnish with remaining basil leaf and cucumber. Enjoy, and dream of brighter days ahead!
The original cocktail, from Bricco Trattoria, that I adapted for this recipe.
